Bisse’s Story

Bisse’s story began in 1976 when Mustafa Kefeli who had come to Istanbul from Yusufeli, Artvin started working in a workshop.

The first foundations were laid in 1976 in Vefa, Istanbul when two brothers renting a 60m2 store started to make shirts on two small machines as contract manufacturers. Adopting the principle of Together Our Principle is to Reach Out to the Industry with Art, the two brothers took the initials of the acronym in Turkish and gave life to the BİSSE brand.

The İMÇ (Istanbul Manufacturer’s Market), Unkapanı, Istanbul

Responding to demand, in 1978 the brand took another step forward and moved to a 120m2 workshop in İMÇ (Istanbul Manufacturer’s Market), Unkapanı, Istanbul where they continued their shirt manufacturing.

1984

First Overseas Customer

First Overseas Customer

In 1984, by adding exports to the success it had gained in the Turkish market, it maintained its work on the path towards being the top Turkish brand from its 312m2 workshop at Emintaş 3 industrial site in Istanbul’s Eyüp district. It began manufacturing shirts for its first overseas customer, Wehmeyer.

In 1990, it continued its export work by manufacturing shirts for the overseas company, Gentilhomme.

Akmerkez Mall

In 1993, in order to bring its different outlook in its manufacture of shirts to customers, Bisse attracted great interest when it opened its first store in Akmerkez Mall.

Germany’s Wehmeyer

Germany’s Wehmeyer

In 1994 when Bisse appeared in the news with an article about its shirts sold at Germany’s Wehmeyer department store Sakıp Sabancı shared his admiration and appreciation. This was the most important turning point in the branding process of BİSSE.

In 1993, in order to bring its different outlook in its manufacture of shirts to customers, Bisse attracted great interest when it opened its first store in Akmerkez Mall.

World Wears Bisse change

World Wears Bisse

In 1996, Sakıp Sabancı featured in the commercial film with the slogan “The World Wears Bisse, So Do I”. After that year he would become an important name in the history of Bisse in the future.

Social Responsibility

In 2005, a visually-impaired rowing team was established, one of many social responsibility projects to which Bisse has contributed. Bisse put its signature under a first with this mission where Asiye Kefeli, the Vice President of the Executive Board, directed the team with her drum. Asiye Kefeli wore the outfit manufactured especially for this project by Bisse using shirt fabrics. .

In 2008, Mustafa Kefeli decided to continue on his own, leaving the journey he had begun with his brother İbrahim Kefeli.

Bruchsal

In 2010, it opened a store in Belgium’s Brussel city. After witnessing manufacturing of such quality, the Mayor of Brussels made a favor and named the avenue where Bisse’s store is located after the brand itself.

In 2012, it opened a store at Trump Tower Mall. The opening ceremony, attended by the then Prime Minister and important high state officials, attracted great attention.
